This painting is built around the tension between light and dark, structure and movement. Soft, pale areas are interrupted by deeper black and earthy forms, while loose lines and marks move freely across the surface. I like the balance between the quiet, open spaces and the stronger, more defined shapes — each part seems to answer the other, which is where the title Counterpoint comes from.
