In this large abstract painting, I was fascinated by the interplay of colour and light. Layers of blue, turquoise and soft green move across the surface, while small contrasts and expressive marks create depth.
What I love about abstract painting is that you can keep discovering new things within it. Shapes and figures can suddenly emerge, and what I notice is not necessarily what you see. I therefore wanted to let the colours and forms lead the painting without defining what the viewer should see.
