Shore is part of a series of three paintings that began one day when I was longing for summer. I started simply with colour, atmosphere and a limited palette, without a particular landscape in mind. Somewhere in the process, a landscape began to reveal itself, and I followed what I saw. This often happens in my work — something recognisable suddenly emerges from the abstract, almost out of nowhere.
